VTTK 1751 - Pharmaceutical Calculations Credits: 3
This is a one-semester lecture course. This course reviews basic mathematical operations used by veterinary technicians in the field of veterinary pharmacology. Topics covered in this course include: common abbreviations used in pharmacology, drug dose calculation methods (formula, ratio/proportion, and dimensional analysis [also called factor-label]), unit conversions, fundamentals of fluid therapy (fluid types, drip/flow rates, constant rate infusions and fluid deficit calculations), and solution preparations (dilutions).
Course Note: Students may be required to enroll in VTTK 1009 Co-Requisite for VTTK 1751. Required enrollment in VTTK 1009 will be determined during the first week of the VTTK 1751 class.
Corequisite: VTTK 1500 must be completed with a grade of C or better; or VTTK 1500 must be taken at the same time as this course. Lecture Hours: 3
