BIOL 1009 - Critical Science Skills

BIOL 1009 is a course devoted to improving students’ critical thinking, quantitative, reading and writing skills as a corequisite to BIOL 1010  . This course is intended to develop the logical skills necessary for success in the Natural Sciences. Key concepts may included: reading a science article, writing as a scientist, scientific math and statistics skills (including computation, unit conversion, concepts of probability and statistical significance, and significant digits), science study skills, the language of science, lab equipment and safety skills, lab note-taking, and reading and following directions.

Course Note: This course is offered for S/U grade only.

Prerequisite: An appropriate score on the English, Math, and Reading placement exam.
Corequisite: BIOL 1010   must be taken at the same time as this course.
